"Toujours Pret - Always Ready"

- The McDonnell Clan Motto

starting at the start...

...like most young children, Fergal and Padraig McDonnell adopted and internalised many of their parents' core principles. These included open-mindedness, civility, egalitarianism, community-mindedness, and a dare to dream.

Carried through to adulthood, these values were injected by the pair into Tailteann in a bid to help all concerned with the company to find further satisfaction and happiness in their professional lives.

"siblings are the people we practice on; the people who teach us about fairness & cooperation & kindness & caring."

Pamela Dugdale

In their boyhood, Padraig and Fergal kind of viewed themselves as the keepers of their younger brothers, Seanan and Cian. As the former pair matured however, they started to realise the latter duo were moreso their makers.

For example, not only did Seanan and Cian teach their elder siblings the values referred to in the above quote by Pamela Dugdale, but a sincere appreciation of the value of loyalty, trust and commitment did they instill.

On an individual level, Seanan, a Social Worker with a passion for play-writing, repeatedly showed Fergal and Padraig why one should always do the right thing, regardless of who is watching. The benefits that accrue from being meticulous and precise, they also primarily learned from him.

Whilst Cian, who now runs a Charted Physiotherapy clinic in their home parish, repeatedly demonstrated to his brothers the value of positivity, sociability and purposefulness not only in one's chosen career but in one's everyday life.

From their close-knit network of Aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws...

...Fergal and Padraig learned countless important lessons, many of which became guiding principles for them in business. Highlighting just one first cousin from either side of the family, alongside one uncle and aunt, to exemplify:

- From Raonall Smith, who enjoyed an NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings and the St. Louis Rams, the lads learned that remaining humble is every bit as important as being dedicated when trying to reach an ambitious goal.

- From Almath Spooner, who claimed all 6 prizes in her Kings' Inn Legal Studies class whilst simultaneously working full-time as the Pharmacovigilance and Risk Management Lead with the Health Products Regulatory Authority Ireland (not to mention representing the European Union at the ICH, and Vice-Chairing the European Medicine Agency's PRA Committee at the very same time); Padraig and Fergal realised you can always do more.

- From the late Hughie McDonnell, the former Principal of Cistercian College Roscrea, Tailteann's founders discovered that real leadership is about inspiring and empowering those around you, and never manipulating or using them.

- From Maol Muire Tynan, who worked as a Political Journalist with The Irish Press, The Irish Times and The Sunday Business Post, Fergal and Padraig recognised the importance of conducting work of genuine societal value.

"Friends are the family we choose for ourselves."

It's often said that you can tell a lot about someone by the company they keep. If you subscribe to that theory, below is a link to some of Fergal and Padraig's...
