The colour of the Tipperary sky on the day we launched this website

"I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars make me dream."

Vincent Van Gogh

Whilst in primary school, padraig and fergal's jaws dropped in tandem when...

...their teacher, Mr. Floyd told them that the site upon which their family home was built was once completely submerged in water.

According to leading geologists, Ireland’s third largest lake, Lough Derg was actually positioned there prior to an enormous ice-age movement relocating it to its current location, some 10 miles away at Killaloe. Seeing and hearing of this lake change had a sea change effect on the pair, it hitting home how transformative Mother Nature could be.

Thereafter, their appreciation of not only nature's inventiveness but...

...mankind’s desire to benefit from it sky-rocketed. The overhead Aeroplanes that were descending on Shannon Airport, the Cat’s Eyes on the nearby N7 Limerick-Dublin road, the Velcro straps on their shoes - examples of relatable products inspired by the physical world were seemingly everywhere once you stopped to look.

Over further time, the brothers came to realise that almost every design challenge that humans faced shared similarities with the challenges the rest of life had successfully adapted to over billions of years of evolutionary trial-and-error. Have plants and animals been the greatest engineers of them all? Padraig thinks they probably have.

Having analysed nature's time-tested patterns and strategies over many years...

...Tailteann seek to emulate evolutionary forms, processes, and systems on both practical and philosophical levels in their every day work. As examples tend to paint the most vibrant pictures, here are but a few ways that nature has inspired us:

the narrow-leafed campion...

...that took over 30,000 years to flower taught us that nature never hurries yet achieves everything.

the immortal jellyfish...

...which set the ultimate standard for medical technology industry participants such as Tailteann to reach - defeat death.

the mexican blind cavefish...

...that lost their eyes in order to save crucial energy, which taught Tailteann that inefficiency has no place in nature, so neither should it have one in the company’s output or outlook.

"Colours are the smiles of nature - they speak all languages"

When you are based in the countryside; nature, with its timeless, effortless style, constantly throws visually arousing colour patterns and combinations at you.

Vibrant rainbows hugging the gentle rolling hills that are The Arras; the golden rays of the setting summer sun bouncing off the River Shannon; a full moon illuminating the shimmering lake at Youghal Quay - these type of vivid, captivating images have helped us to better understand how to successfully blend differing colours.

Indeed, the black of Tailteann was actually inspired by a fusion of primary colours, which was witnessed on a mountain hike around the time of our company's origin (see above).

the "wood-wide web" system...

...employed by the Oak trees adjacent to our Company Office, which showed us only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.

the ingenious synchronised support system of migratory birds...

...which helped to inspire Tailteann’s bespoke systemisation methods.

the innate desire of rudi the ram...

...and his fellow flock to always seek the light, and climb the highest peak, which motivated Tailteann to do likewise.

and last but certainly not least...

...our family pets, Cory and Rory, who showed us how to truly be human.
